THE PAINTINGS OF

GRAZIELLA WEBER-GRASSI

October 1 - November 5, 2022

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 1st, 2:00-4:00PM

Compelling themes of Weber-Grassi’s childhood compete for attention in her paintings. As adults, we look back nostalgically, yearning to recreate the sense of wonder and naiveté that is the province of youth. Yet darker, deeper undercurrents invade our experience, creating tensions between the hopes and dreams of a child and the reality of imperfections held in sacred family secrets shielded by almost impenetrable facades.

In a playful way Weber-Grassi juxtaposes memories from her Swiss childhood with quintessential Americana images evocative of the pop culture of the 1940s. The collage-like canvases set the stage for people to explore and resolve their own inner conflicts while searching for the lost innocence of childhood.

  • DRYDEN GALLERY AT PROVIDENCE PICTURE FRAME PRESENTS

    THE PAINTINGS OF GRAZIELLA WEBER-GRASSI

[North Providence, Rhode Island] The Dryden Gallery at Providence Picture Frame is pleased to announce that the paintings of Graziella Weber-Grassi will be featured in a dedicated show from October 1 through November 5. An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, October 1 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Dryden Gallery, 1350 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI.

Ms. Weber-Grassi’s paintings present as what otherwise might be termed “details” of larger works. But in their tight depiction of details, they focus our attention on the deeper significance of the implied but not visible greater images, thus begging the question of what exists around us that we cannot see.

This approach seems all the more important in this, an age when the broad, encompassing views of events and individuals overpower our perceptions and consequently our understanding of how the world works.
